Are You Creating An Idol Out Of Your Purpose? (Part 2)
by Shae Bynes, Co-Founder of Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur
Last week I posed a question that led to quite a few e-mails and Facebook messages. I asked the question “Are you creating an idol out of your purpose?” It’s an important question to ask ourselves and it really seemed to strike a chord with a lot of people. I am grateful to God for that because this topic is one that the Lord has really been speaking to me about over the past couple of months. If you haven’t read that brief article, be sure to do that first before reading on.
The main point from the previous article is that absolutely nothing (including the pursuit of a God-given purpose) is more key than pursuing God Himself.
Let’s explore that a little further. One of the things that I have been paying close attention to in the Word of God are the conditions. Have you noticed that there are a lot of conditions in the scriptures? It’s easy to miss them and focus only on the parts that make you want to leap for joy!
John 15:7 (NJKV) says:
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
That is more than an encouraging word; that is a powerful promise from our Heavenly Father. However, you have to read the text carefully. The promise comes with a condition. It says IF you abide in Him AND His words abide in you…those are the conditions for having the things that you desire and ask for be established.
This is why as Kingdom Driven Entrepreneurs, it is so vitally important for us to seek HIM over all else. So how do you abide (i.e. remain, continue) in Him and have His words abide in you? Through prayer, worship, reading the Word of God regularly (asking the Holy Spirit to bring a deeper of understanding prior to reading it), and generally being more aware of His presence as you’re doing the every day things you do in your business.
If you’re abiding in Him and His words are abiding in you, there will be a complete alignment between your desires and His will for you in every aspect of your life and business:
You will have an open ear to God’s course correction (when you take steps forward in your business but get ahead of Him)
You will pray bolder prayers (and believe that He has already answered them).
You will take bolder action (and believe that He’s got you covered).
You will give like you’ve never given before.
You will have personal encounters with God that you’ve never experienced before.
You will transform lives around you in ways you’ve never done before.
You will wreak havoc on the enemy’s plans.
You will literally be UNSTOPPABLE.
And yes….you will ask what you desire, and it will be done for you.
Pursue God.
Thiz is so true, you have to start the day and month and place your thoughts, prayersn and even money to God.
I used to attend a Church when I was In Hawaii and the Pastor said to e you first fruits first. That means to pay your tithes and offerings before paying your bills.
