Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur Spotlight: Mark Murphy

Kingdom Driven Entrepreneurs are entrepreneurs of faith who don’t want to do “business as usual” and seek to truly impact lives and advance the Kingdom of God through their businesses.  It’s our aim at KingdomDrivenEntrepreneur.com to equip you to build a thriving business that serves both your family and builds the Kingdom.  To that end, we feel it’s important to inspire and connect the Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur community which is why we do this member spotlight.

This week’s spotlight is on Mark Murphy, an engineer turned entrepreneur who is passionate about not only ensuring his business is Kingdom Driven, but also investing time and resources to help other entrepreneurs do the same.

If you would like to be considered for a future spotlight, be sure to connect and engage with our Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur community on Facebook.

Tell us the basics: Where you’re from, where you live currently, your family, etc.

My name is Mark Murphy. I am a small business owner, real estate investor, and entrepreneur. My family and I are currently headquartered in the Phoenix Metro area of Arizona.

I started pursuing my entrepreneurial endeavors in 1999 working as an independent contractor for a small engineering start up company after completing my masters degree in electrical engineering.  I enjoyed the experience so much that I decided to create an engineering consulting company focused on providing technical services for companies needing specialized knowledge in software/systems engineering.

Since then, I have continued to grow and learn as an entrepreneur and business owner. Currently, I am managing partner of Conquest Holdings, LLC which is the parent/holding company that is comprised of a business coaching company, engineering consulting firm, global staffing firm, an online tutoring company, and a real estate investment firm.

My passion is to globally transform society and advance God’s Kingdom by and through business (Business as Mission).

What are you currently working on, launching, or just generally excited about in your business?

I am currently involved with the Business as Mission movement and PovertyCure.org by volunteering my coaching/consulting services and financially supporting their Kingdom initiatives.  This allows my businesses to have a Kingdom impact initiative and purpose for the greater glory of God.

What does it mean to you personally to be a Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur, and how are you “walking that out” in your business endeavors?

  • Someone who realizes that business is a calling from God (vocational).
  • Someone who understands that a kingdom business is intentional; God has a very specific purpose for each business.
  • Someone who realizes that business is relational; God blesses us with a huge set of relationships in business we would never have otherwise.
  • And ultimately someone that knows that how they operate their business impacts and reflects upon the Kingdom.

What are 1 or 2 of your favorite scriptures that inspire you?

Deuteronomy 8:18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”

Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us”

What are 3 books that have inspired you or helped you with your business?

My favorite books are: E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber, Awakening the Entrepreneur Within by Michael Gerber, and Business as Mission by Michael Baer.

How can your fellow Kingdom Driven Entrepreneurs help you?

I would like to think of Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur as a think tank for Kingdom driven initiatives. Others can help support my Business as Mission by sharing resources and and allowing me to leverage their knowledge in areas where I fall short.

What else would you like to tell us?

I want to be a resource and encouragement to others in this community so that they can get results and ultimately be agents of influence for the greater glory of God!
